Nature of Memory
How many of us have stopped to pick up a stone or rock from some special destination? Perhaps it was a feather, a shell, or a beautiful leaf. In many ways beyond thinking, fragments of nature recall special moments in our lives, and have the power to capture the essence of love and loss, hope and joy. This series of paintings is inspired by just that, and by a very special place in my life. I enjoy exploring how something so simple and fragile can evoke such powerful memories and thoughts and how a simple juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated objects builds a compelling visual relationship.
As I continue to explore these ideas and revel in this representation of my enduring connection to nature, I hope you will enjoy the results, and find your own memories in these pieces.
