Alla Prima, Italian, meaning at first attempt, is a style of oil painting in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered layers of wet paint.  

 

The immediacy of the alla prima style suits what I am hoping to achieve in my paintings perfectly, and it comes very naturally to me. All of the paintings you see here are in oils, my favorite medium, unless indicated otherwise and all are for sale unless designated sold, or private collection.
